A new tech-infused bed has made sleeping much more interesting.
Select Comfort, maker of the Sleep Number bed, unveiled its latest smart mattress on Tuesday, Time.Com reported.
Priced at $8,000, the Sleep Number x12 will not only give consumers the ability to adjust how firm or soft their side of the bed is, but it also has a wireless connection that allows built-in sensors to track sleep patterns, monitor heart rates and study sleep movements.
The bed connects to home networks and smartphones via Wi-Fi to relay "sleepy-time" data to a connected app that calculates a sleep score.
The services the bed offers will also allow partners to get creative with recreational activities.
"You can compete with your partner to see who gets the best sleep score, or compete with yourself to try to better your own score. Yes, you try to sleep better," Time.com said.
If the consumer has a partner who snores, the smart bed has a way to reduce the annoyance that might cause.
With the hit of the Partner Snore button on the included wireless remote control, the head section of your partner's side of the bed is titled upward by six degrees, "just enough to help them stop snoring," Fox News reported.
The bed plugs into bedside lamps, enabling users to "set your lights to turn off at a certain time or just turn them off from the remote." Times.com reported that the bed also performs full-body massages and comes with ambient lighting.
The tech-savvy bed goes on sale February 8 in a queen-size version for $8,000. According to Time.com subsequent sizes will roll out over the rest of the year.
