Nokia will launch its first Android Nougat smartphone soon. Here's what you need to know!

What's under the hood?

Multiple sources have claimed that Nokia P1 will come with Android Nougat pre-installed. This will be the first handset from Nokia to run on the latest Android firmware. Under the hood, Nokia P1 is said to have a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM and 3,500 mAh battery capacity. There will be two internal storage options. The base model will rock 128 gigs of internal storage whilst the higher end will be using 256 gigs.

A UK-based authority website has claimed that Nokia P1 will sport the most powerful lens to date. It's reported that the handset with get a 22.6 MP Carl Zeizz lens for its rear camera. Apart from that, Nokia P1 will have USB C port for charging and also a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The specifications point at a premium smartphone design with built quality, and according to The Street, Nokia P1 high-end variant could sell for $950 whilst the base model may be sold at $800.

The Android phone's design will be similar to the current devices in the market. Nokia P1 will rock a 5.3-inch display protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The handset will be dust and water resistant but the degree hasn't been confirmed yet. It is safe to assume that Nokia P1 will be getting IP67 rating the least.

When will Nokia P1 be released?

One thing to expect is that this handset won't likely be the classic Nokia we've known. Nokia P1 is manufactured by HMD Global, a Finnish tech company under Nokia brand, Reuters reported. Nokia could be making an announcement at the Mobile World Congress that falls on Feb. 26 in Barcelona.
