PlayStation 4 Pro Latest News: PS4 Pro Runs Higher GPU And CPU Clock To Improve Gameplay On Some PlayStation 4 Games [VIDEO]
ByThe Playstation 4 Pro has been out in the market for a couple of months. Owners of the gaming system have an extra feature to look forward to in the upcoming firmware update. Sony's latest console will run at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed to provide a noticeable improvement on some PS4 games.
While the firmware v4.50's external hard drive support and tweaks give benefit to all PS4 owners to the interface and notifications, the Playstation 4 Pro users also have a new feature, dubbed as Boost Mode. Turning on the Boost Mode feature will ignite the extra power of a PS4 Pro to improve game performance.
Since the 4.50 update isn't widely released yet, there's no indication on how effective the improvements are. According to PlayStation Blog, the tech giant's PS4 4.50 firmware update announcement made no mention of the Boost Mode feature.
Nonetheless, the Japanese tech company confirmed the existence of the Boost Mode feature. A Sony rep made it known that activating the Boost Mode, the PS4 Pro will run at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed and it will definitely improve the gameplay on some PS4 games that were unleashed before the PS4 Pro was launched, The Verge reported.
Furthermore, a video posted on YouTube illustrated a game from one of the PS4 launch titles, and a patched PS4 Pro game. Wherein, the video showed that there's a lengthy comparison of how the original versions of the games play on the PlayStation 4 compared to the Boost Mode feature of the PS4 Pro. The pure Boost Mode feature gets an impressive boost of the frame rates, according to Kotaku.
The video featured games like "Tomb Raider," "Battlefield 4," "Project Cars," and the action-platform video game "Mighty No. 9." If the "Mighty No. 9" runs better on the PS4 Pro's Boost Mode, then the feature could totally improve all games.
