Last month, 'Pokémon Sun and Moon' reportedly will have a version that will be coming out for the Nintendo Switch. The game already well into development will be launched in 2017 and given a codename 'Pokemon Stars.'
A gamer @initPRAGMA posted a screenshot on Twitter showing what "Pokémon Sun and Moon" might look like in high-definition. According to TechMic, the HD game looks largely reminiscent to "Pokémon Sun and Moon" of the Nintendo 3DS albeit showing less pixelation and with an overall cleaner look.
Accordingly, @initPRAGMA also said that playing this version is possible but would need a decrypted version of "Pokemon Sun and Moon" to be able to run on the Citra game emulator. Players are also informed that the frame rate is not exactly that smooth.
"Pokémon Sun and Moon" for the Nintendo Switch
To point out, Pokémon games are usually housed in devices that you can take anywhere. Nintendo Switch is a console that is also a hybrid tablet that one can take to play outside its docking port. Needless to say, the game meets the requirement of portability.
According to Eurogamer, multiple sources reported that "Pokémon Sun and Moon" for the Nintendo Switch is indeed in development, and if the rumors will be proven true, "Pokémon Stars" will be the first home console to receive the main Pokémon game.
Furthermore, the same team responsible for "Pokémon Sun and Moon" at the Game Freak Studios is developing "Pokémon Stars." Game Freak is also responsible for all Main Pokémon games since its incarnation in Nintendo's Game Boy.
Additionally, there will be a new Pokémon bird called Pikipek in HD that will be exclusively released for the Nintendo Switch version of "Pokémon Sun and Moon." The work on "Pokémon Stars" includes the development of features not found in its 3DS version, according to the report.
Eurogamer also reported that the Nintendo Switch version of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" would employ the same map although the build will be using higher-resolution assets. The release date was initially slated in summer next year but later reports say the release has been pushed back to later a later date in 2017.
