Last December 2016, Microsoft conducted a competitive crossplay test in the third-person shooter video game, "Gears of War 4," to find out what would happen if the gamers of Xbox One and PC were allowed to play together and trade gunfire. Now, the video game developer The Coalition announced that the cross-play between the different platforms is now available in the video game's multiplayer mode.

The cross-play is up for grabs in the Social Quickplay playlist, while the third-person shooter game's Core and Competitive playlists will not come along with the cross-play feature. The video game developer claimed that from the test period, gamers on Xbox One and PC had around the same level of skill. Nevertheless, The Coalition wants to ensure that Ranked playlists in the "Gears of War 4" are as closely competitive and matched as possible, according to Xbox Wire.

Interestingly, gamers heavily favored the Xbox One over PC when Microsoft tested the expanded crossplay features of "Gears of War 4." Out of the 115,000 gamers that took part in the competitive crossplay test, there was a whopping 91 to 9 percentage split between the Xbox One and the PC platform. Wherein, there are over 750,000 matches were played, Game Spot reported.

The game developer of "Gears of War 4" stated that they are incredibly excited that the Public Versus multiplayer bring the Xbox One and PC communities closer together, which was done by means of the power of Xbox Live. The game developer also expressed their gratitude for the players' participation.

That being said, the "Gears of War 4" is part of Microsoft's program, dubbed as the Xbox Play Anywhere, which means those who purchase the video game on either Windows 10 PC or Xbox One will have access to both versions. In supporting the cross-platform multiplayer, the third-person shooter game joins a handful of other video games, like the "Rocket League."
