LG G5 & LG G6 News: LG G5 Failed Company’s Expectations Of Success; LG G6 Release Date, Specs, Features [VIDEO]
ByIt has been known that the LG G5 Android smartphone was a huge flop, and it seems that the handset played a major role in the Q4 2016 financial results for the South Korean tech company. The tech giant posted its first quarterly loss in 6 years, wherein, LG posted a net loss of $223.98 million in the fourth quarter of 2016.
The LG G5 smartphone was largely to blame after the handset flopped after being unleashed at the Mobile World Congress 2016. The LG G5 Android smartphone was launched with some fanfare as the tech company looked to change the game with a new modular design. The LG G5 design has since been scrapped as the company gears up to release its latest flagship, the LG G6 Android smartphone, which the device has been leaked ahead of its official announcement, according to LG News Room.
The loss is a serious step back for LG, which reported a pretty hefty financial gain in the fourth quarter of 2015. In that quarter, LG gathered a healthy $12.79 billion in profit.
Nonetheless, strong sales of the LG V20 smartphone somewhat rescued the profit of LG in the fourth quarter of 2016. Unfortunately, the sales of LG V20 smartphones couldn't save the tech giant from sinking, as LG claimed the vehicle components division was also to blame.
On the other hand, recent rumors claimed that the LG G6 Android smartphone will take a different approach. The LG G6 will most likely rolled out at Mobile World Congress at the end of Feb. 2017. The device will feature an edge-to-edge display and ditched the frustrating modular system, Digital Trends reported.
LG has confirmed that its latest flagship will sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD+ display along with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels. Furthermore, the LG G6 smartphone has a unique 18:9 aspect ratio, which means the LG smartphone is likely more elongated compared to the typical devices with that aspect ratio.
