Artificial intelligence is the newest type of technology that researchers and engineers are deeply studying. There are seen benefits through the use of this type of technology but there are those who are concerned with the use of it, as well. The growing concern when it comes to the use of artificial intelligence may mean the disappearance of jobs. Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates and Elon Musk have raised their concerns regarding the use of such intelligence.
Elon Musk himself warns that there is no certainty when using such tool and it could pose as the biggest existential threat, as reported by Time. Musk considers A.I. to hold perils that could spin out of its inventor's control. At one point, he likens the whole process to summoning a demon. For the Tesla and SpaceX founder, a computer that is better than humans, in everything that humans do, is a grave threat.
And he may have reason to believe so when an A.I. experiment showed a third A.I failed to decipher the encryption of two previous A.I's, as reported by the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. But those who believe that a dystopian future is impossible at this point, there are still those who believe that a society without jobs can cripple humanity.
According to the IEET, they ask the question that if machines dominate the manufacturing and production industry, where will human beings be placed? Machines replacing people in both existing and newly created jobs may provide an economy that will no longer require a human operator.
The publication concludes with a hypothetical question. And that is "What will society look like at a time when the last human with a wage-earning job loses it?" It is not yet clear how this will impact the universities and colleges designed to create graduates that the job market will absorb. But employment for all mankind is definitely a concern for many.
