Sony, along with all phone manufacturers during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, in Barcelona, on Feb. 27, 2017, is expected to unveil their offerings.

Sony, for its part, is expected to unveil at least three units during MWC 2017. Accordingly, the company has already sent out invites for its press event on Feb. 27 where it is expected that the company will unveil its Sony flagships, according to Express.

Reports stated that Samsung opted not to launch a new device at MWC 2017 this year, opting instead to launch its anticipated units later after the MWC. That spells good news for Sony, and other competitors, that it could be their time to shine.

Though no details about what would be launched during the invite were provided, it is highly speculated that the latest generation of Sony flagships will be taking center stage. The Sony Xperia X2 is touted as the company's next-generation high-end smartphone; following Sony Xperia X, which was revealed at MWC 2016, is expected to be unveiled.

The Sony Xperia X2 is said to have a 5-inch or 5.2-inch full HD display, other speculate it might be a 5.5-incher sporting a 4K display. Added speculation says that it will be the first Sony smartphone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat, or possibly even version 7.1, straight out-of-the-box.

Aside from the rumored Sony Xperia X2 flagship, Sony is also expected to introduce two mid-range smartphones during the event. The two units are known only by their model numbers, namely: G3112 and G3221. Both units are reportedly sporting octa-core Mediatek chipsets.

According to Phone Arena, The cheaper G3112 will have a 720p display, whereas the G3221 comes in Full HG (1080p), a 23MP back camera and 4GB of RAM. It is also possible that Sony will introduce the successor to its Sony Xperia XA and the Sony Xperia XZ, introduced last year. Renders of the possible successor to the Sony Xperia XA have leaked online, showing similarity to its predecessor albeit having minimal side bezels, a USB Type C-Port, a 3.5mm audio jack.

One thing about Sony is that their phones might look very similar due to the unified design concept the company introduced last year. However their new phones may look, Sony is one company being looked at intently for their offerings this year.
