Drones are all the rage in the past few years. Many companies are trying to use drones to service their different platforms in the industry.
Drone technology can be seen as a service in delivery system, documentation and research. This unmanned aircraft is being used everywhere but it still requires a lot of study. Which is why the college students in Kentucky and West Virginia are going to get some funding to further look into this technology.
The Appalachian Regional Commission has provided some financial assistance, as reported by WSAZ News. United States Rep. Evan Jenkins of West Virginia announced that the Maysville Community and Technical College in Kentucky, plus the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is going to receive a $1.3 million grant.
The two colleges will be working with the Regional Drone Technology Workforce Project. The grant will benefit one hundred students. These students will be studying the drone industry, as reported by LEX18 News.
The drone industry is rapidly growing and the grant hopes that further study will raise awareness, reveal its uses and limitations. As federal regulations are still studying the guidelines for public use and private use, there are still some policies or specifications that needed to be reviewed. Drones are also being used by the military.
Drones are being used as a target and decoy. They are also being used as reconnaissance tools. In some areas, drones are being used for combat and logistics. Drone research and development is also a functional category. The most famous use would be drones in the civil and commercial sectors in agriculture, photography and data collection.
While researchers are still finding ways to improve drone technology, companies like Amazon are using drones for their delivery system.
