SnapChat has revolutionized the way people share videos and photos on social media, but its user interface isn't really that easy. Now, with its universal search bar, which is always on top of the app's screen, finding groups, stories, publishers, and friends is now easier and faster.
It's All About Speed
SnapChat launched on January 13 its new universal search bar for certain Android users and will soon roll out the new feature to all iOS and Android users, TechCrunch reported. The new interface is designed primarily for speed, by allowing users to keep sharing videos, photos, and stories while looking for whatever the user needs.
After hitting the search button, the "Quick Chat" menu will appear to display the people that the user usually interacts with, Engadget reported. This will let the user instantly message the friends they see on the display, while tapping the display and holding it down will show the user their friend's profile. The new search bar can also allow users to get to their own profile by simply tapping their own Bitmoji, which is located on the left of the screen.
SnapChat's unique layout relies on user's knowledge to swipe around making it a bit difficult for others to navigate through the app. Navigation buttons where recently added to the app in 2016. But now, its universal search bar can get around the app more conveniently through search.
New Opportunities to Earn
Businesses and influencers can use this new update to their advantage as an easier navigation interface can help them better build their brands among their SnapChat audience. This gives SnapChat a new opportunity to earn as it can potentially make these brands pay for sponsored placement for better search ranking.
Proving that it has various ways to earn money is important for the company, which is planning to go on an initial public offering in 2017. It expects to reach an IPO valuation of $25 billion.
