Motorola Mobility has decided to move up the release date of its anticipated mobile device in the United States, the International Business Times reported.
The Moto G will be available in December in anticipation of the Christmas season. The Google-owned company previously announced the device would be sometime in January.
T-Mobile and AT&T customers in the U.S. will be able to buy the version of the Moto G device that's capable of HSPA+ speeds. Customers with Verizon Wireless, Sprint, MetroPCS, Cricker and U.S. cellular will have to wait until January for the company's release of the CDMA variant of the Moto G.
The Moto G is a low-cost follow-up to the Moto X; Motorola is charging only $179 for a model with 8GB of storage, and $199 for 16GB.
While the Moto X's non-removable rear cover could be customized on Motorola's Moto Maker website along with the phone's buttons and front faceplate, the Moto G will be offered only with a black rear shell.
Unlike its predecessor, the Moto G will be available internationally. After the release of the Moto X, Motorola faced criticism from smartphone users outside of the country for offering the American-assembled Moto X only in the U.S. and Canada.
Moto G is also currently on sale in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, UK, Germany, France, and Canada and is coming soon to other countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Moto G will be in more than 30 countries with 60 partners by early 2014.
