Xiaomi confirmed more smartphones will get Android Nougat update soon, plus more details on MIUI 9 release date.

Android 7.0 Nougat Update for Xiaomi Phones

Previously, Xiaomi has officially rolled out Nougat update to Mi 5, and this week, it is reported that more Xiaomi phones will be receiving Android's latest firmware.

The news came from a Weibo post that states Xiaomi Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 4c and Mi 4s will be getting the new Android OS version in Q1 2017. XiaomiAdvices reported that there might be more handsets eligible after the said devices, such as Redmi Note 3, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi4i and Mi Pad.

MIUI 9 Release Date

After MIUI 9 development has been leaked online, Xiaomi users have been asking questions in forums about the release of Xiaomi's custom skin latest version. MIUI has been praised for its user-friendly nature, and after its MIUI 8 gets thumbs up, the upcoming UI is said to be launched after the Android 7.0 Nougat update next year.

A screenshot of MIUI 9 leak suggests a huge space requirement of up to 1.8GB in order to get the update, according to GSM Arena. It is expected to be rolled out in June 2017.

MIUI 9 is said to bring a lot of tweaks to Xiaomi's devices including better battery, new notification orders and multi-window support. Data Saver feature reportedly cuts back data usage on apps running at the background. The update also brings a smart gesture which enables Xiaomi devices with a dual-edged curved screen to have quick shortcut menus.

Xiaomi is going to bring more security layers in MIUI 9 as users will be able to use private password or PIN for apps.
