"The Fate of the Furious" reveals a different Dom who will betray his family, prompting mixed reactions from fans who think that Dom's story arc is contrary to what the franchise has consistently shown regarding family and friendship. Meanwhile, Vin Diesel who plays Dom in the movie remembers his friend and co-star, Paul Walker, in a touching Instagram post last Tuesday, Dec. 20.

"The Fate of the Furious" is the eight installment of the long-running and most financially successful series with the "Furious 7" earning $1.516 billion dollars and becoming the sixth top-grossing films of all time. Though many believed that the Furious gang will soon get dissolved after the death of Walker in 2013, the team behind the franchise has managed to come up with a working storyline for the gang and keeping interest up.

In fact, "The Fate of the Furious" first official trailer broke all records as the most watched trailer, indicating that fans of the franchise are highly anticipating the release of the sequel to "Furious 7." However, to avoid returning to old plot lines and rehashing materials, director F. Gary Gray and his writers have taken the least likely road in featuring a different story arc for Dom.

Dom's story arc revealing that he has turned his back on his family even Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), received mixed reactions from fans who believed that Dom will never do such thing unless coercion or blackmail is involved according to CheatSheet. Though some fans are not happy about it, others lauded the move as daring and bold, instead of relying on tried-and-tested formula that may have been overused in the 15-year-old series.

Meanwhile, Diesel posted in his Instagram post last Tuesday, Dec. 20, a photo of himself and the late Walker after winning the Best On-Screen Team in the 2002 MTV Movie Awards. Diesel wrote a touching message speaking of the "arduous" journey ahead, Walker remaining a source of strength, and wishing to make him proud of their newest film according to Cinema Blend. "The Fate of the Furious" hits theaters on April 14, 2107.
