Updates on George R.R. Martin's upcoming novel "The Winds of Winter" has been scarce lately, perhaps owing to the fact that the author is not yet near completing the book. However, at the Guadalajara International Book Fair attended by Martin, he reveals some interesting details about the sixth novel in the "A Song of Fire and Ice" novel series.

As per Martin, "The Winds of Winter" will be dark chapter in the entire "A Song of Fire and Ice" saga and that some of the well-loved characters in the franchise might meet their end. "You know, it is called The Winds of Winter, and I've been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming," Martin says in an interview. "And winter's the time when things die, and you know... cold, and ice, and darkness fills the world."

He adds that things will get worse for a lot of the characters of the book. Given Martin's knack for killing off fan favorites, a lot are wondering which shocking casualty will be come out of "The Winds of Winter." Most speculations, however, point to Lady Lyanna Mormont, whose appearance as the brave and feisty ruler of Bear Island wowed viewers of "Game of Thrones" Season 6.

Lady Lyanna Mormont, portrayed by 12-year-old actress Bella Ramsey, first appeared on Season 6 episode "The Broken Man." "Lyanna is strong about what she believes, and wants to keep her family and island protected; she wants to be treated like an adult. She's strong, and firm when she needs to be, and wants the best for her house and the North," Ramsey describes her character in an interview with HBO.

Although she only spoke in two scenes in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, she stole the show in each of them, even overshadowing some of the show's biggest stars such as Sophie Turner and Kit Harington. From that point on, fans easily identified her as the breakout star of the sixth season.

It is confirmed that Ramsey will return as Lady Lyanna Mormont is "Game of Thrones" Season 7. The actress was spotted on the set of "Game of Thrones" Season 6 in Northern Ireland fully dress in Mormont outfit.

"Game of Thrones" Season 7 will premiere on HBO in 2017.
