‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Spoilers: Jennifer Lawrence To Make Cameo Appearance As Mystique [RUMOR]
ByJennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt has definitely developed a unique friendship over the course of filming and promoting their upcoming movie "Passengers." Through promotional activities for "Passengers," both stars pulled out hilarious antics and delivered witty remarks against one another. Now, Lawrence wants to appear as Mystique in Pratt's Marvel movie "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
While promoting "Passengers" with Pratt, Lawrence candidly revealed that she wants to take part in a "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie as the shape-shifting mutant Mystique. "Oh my god, I would love to," Lawrence said in an interview, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "I actually don't even know - I would choose that over doing another X-Men movie. I won't be Mystique in the 'X-Men' movies, but I would love to be Mystique in 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' I wonder if they can do that."
For now, it's impossible to bring in Mystique into the fold considering that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is already in post-production, meaning Lawrence would have to do re-shoots. Another thing that's standing in the way of her appearance as Mystique in the movie is that both superhero franchises are owned by different companies. Fox currently holds the movie rights to the "X-Men" universe while the Marvel Cinematic Universe is owned by Disney's Marvel Studios.
There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of the "X-Men" movies as well as Lawrence's participation in it. It is speculated that the whole franchise will be rebooted and will focus on the younger generation led by Sophie Turner's Jean Grey. It is given that the events in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" wiped out everything that happened in the original trilogy in the early 2000s, which means the franchise could start with a clean slate.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox's contracts with Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult have ended and neither of them has renewed yet. If ever the studio wants to bring them back in, it would be costly.
In a previous interview, Lawrence revealed that none of them will come back if one doesn't return. "Like, 'Will you come back?' 'I dunno.' 'I'll come back, if you come back.' Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn't come back, none of us are," Lawrence explained.
