A random chance of encountering a shiny Pokemon in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" is probably one of the coolest things about playing the game. Shiny Pokemon features different color palettes than their normal counterparts, though they do not possess any advantages aside from them being rare.

In "Pokemon Sun and Moon," the method in which to acquire Shiny Pokemon has changed dramatically, according to iDigitalTimes. The report also said that the method is time-consuming especially in the Alola region.

According to Slash Gear, the chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon is 1 in 4,096, which would corroborate with other reports that the process of getting one is indeed time-consuming. However, a special item can raise chances of a Shiny Pokemon encounter once the trainer is in possession of the Shiny Charm.

Shiny Charm in Heahea City

It is important that you need to complete the Alolan Pokedex before you can acquire the Shiny Charm. The move would have you capture 300 Pokemon and register them before you speak to the director in HeaHea City on Akala Island to get your Shiny Charm.

Catch the Shiny Pokemon

The best way to catch Shiny Pokemon now that you have the Shiny Charm is to exploit the game's call for help feature. When in battle, wild Pokemon will sometimes call for help wherein it summons other Pokemon of the same species to give a helping hand or paw. As more Pokemon are summoned in a chain, the chances of encountering a Shiny Pokemon increases, as well as the chance of encountering Pokemon with better stats and moves.

To increase the chance of wild Pokemon to call for help requires the use of the Adrenaline Orb at the beginning of each battle. Once a new Pokemon is called, knock one of the Pokemon out and wait for the remaining monster to call more up. Repeat the process until you get Shiny Pokemon.
