‘Man of Steel 2’ Spoilers: Which Of These Villains Would Superman Face In The Sequel? – Everything You Need To Know
By"Man of Steel 2" is definitely in the works at Warner Bros., that's according to Henry Cavill's manager Dany Garcia. With this confirmation, speculations are running wild as to which villain Superman might face in his next solo outing.
"Henry has a big appetite," Garcia told Newsweek. "We've been in a five-month period of time where he's re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his production company Promethean], he's filming ['Justice League'] now, he's in development for the Superman standalone... he's beginning to expand that world."
There are some major development news for "Man of Steel 2," especially since it's been 3 years since the first "Man of Steel" movie came out. According to The Wrap, the next Superman film is a "top priority" over at Warner Bros., and that the studio is "getting the character right for audiences if of tantamount importance."
Cavill's Superman was faced with worthy opponents in his first solo outing. Here are some speculations as to the big bad in the upcoming "Man of Steel 2."
Brainiac
One theory suggests that Brainiac could be the next villain to butt heads with Superman. In the comic books, he is known as one of Superman's greatest nemesis. Rumor has it that Brainiac would appear in "Man of Steel 2" to steal the codex that was introduced in the first movie. This codex contains the genetic information of the Kryptonian race - information that could lead to the extinction of Superman's people. It is presumed that Superman will have to keep Brainiac from getting the codex in "Man of Steel 2."
Darkseid
Darkseid's arrival in the DCEU was somewhat hinted at in "Batman v. Superman." He appeared in Batman's dream sequence. Although that's the case, it's worth nothing that everyone in the DCEU are in a "share universe," which means it's not unlikely for one character to pop up in another film. However, Darkseid's appearance, if ever true, will most likely take place in "Justice League" since he's too massive a villain for just one superhero to take on.
Cyborg Superman
Who's the biggest enemy an immortal like Superman can face? Himself. It would be an interesting concept to see Superman be at war with himself. It could offer a really deep storyline for the character and the other "Justice League" films. The only catch is that Cyborg Superman is already being portrayed in The CW's "Supergirl" Season 2.
