The return to the big screen of the lovable ogre, Shrek, and the love of his life Fiona has been confirmed. The duo and the rest of the gang are set to entertain us in "Shrek 5" set to air in 2019. Here's what we know so far about the film.

Eddie Murphy, the actor behind another well-loved character "Donkey," has confirmed that the script is already done for "Shrek 5." But of course, the actor didn't give us any hint on the storyline of the film.
Cinema Blend reported that Michael McCullers wrote the script. Cullers is known for his work in Austin Powers. Murphy was happy and quite satisfied when he shared that the script and the story for the upcoming film is good.
As for the cast, fans are expecting to see the characters that they love. Mike Myers will probably return as Shrek. The actor fell in love with his character as Shrek and the message of the film itself. The actor expressed this during an interview with Cinema. It is hard to imagine anyone playing the role of Donkey aside from Eddie Murphy. And the guys need Cameron Diaz in their lives as Fiona.
One character that we all love is Puss. It is fun to see Puss and Donkey together again on an adventure. Antonio Banderas is yet to confirm his involvement in the project.
As for the plot of "Shrek 5," it is still unknown. Fans are expecting to see more of Shrek and Fiona's children - Fergus, Farkel, and Felicia. The triplets are going to be all grown up by the time "Shrek 5" hit theaters.
