After the successful debut of Huawei's P9 handset that pioneered the dual Leica-powered camera six months ago, rumors about its successor Huawei P10 is making the rounds online, revealing a possible ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and physical button in front. The leaked photos also reveal P10's two model displays: a dual curved display and the normal flat display with no curved edges.

According to BGR, the leaked photos of Huawei P10 smartphone reveal information about various updates made over its previous model Huawei P9. Images show the front panel of the smartphone, which contains the Home key and the fingerprint sensor, which is changed from P9's fingerprint scanner on the back panel.

The technology of an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner works by deploying ultrasonic waves to recognize a person's fingerprint, irrespective of whether the finger is wet, sweaty or covered in filth and grime.

Following more leaked renders, P10 will have models carrying different screen variants. The device is said to have a flat-screen model and one with a curved edge display, similar to Mate 9 Porsche Design and Galaxy S7 edge.

GameNGuide reported other rumored specs on the Huawei P10 which include a 5.5-inch with QUAD HD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution, which is an improvement from P9's 5.2 inches; a Kirin 960 processor and a 4GB RAM paired with 64GB storage capacity. A 6GB/128GB variant is also available, according to reports.

In its optics department, Huawei P10 is expected to carry the Leica dual camera lens setup previously featured on P9. The high-end camera features a 12MP rear with the capability of recording 4K video, equipped with LED flash, face detection and HDR support. An 8MP front camera is an added advantage for selfies.

Under the hood, the smartphone is also expected to have a pre-installed Android Nougat as its OS firmware, or maybe even the 7.1 version with Huawei's EMUI v5.0 user interface.

Product renders of Huawei P10 has surfaced online earlier, first appearing in Chinese microblogging site Weibo before being spotted in the benchmarking site GFXBench.

Huawei is expected to offer cheaper variants with less internal memory and possibly less RAM. There is still no word on an exact release date for the new Huawei iteration, but the company's previous flagship release pattern suggests that Huawei P10 will be unveiled by Q2 2017.
