The White House announced last week that Malia Obama, the President's eldest daughter is headed to Massachusetts next fall. Malia chose to go to Harvard for college after touring the Ivies, Stanford and New York universities a few months earlier.

Considering that President-elect Trump's four older children have already attended and graduated from reputable schools, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Tiffany share the same alma mater with their father, the University of Pennsylvania and Eric graduated from Georgetown University.

Let's look back at previous young occupants of the White House and the schools they attended.

Pres. Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush's fraternal twin girls attended separate schools. The older twin, Barbara Pierce Bush earned a degree in Humanities from Yale. She cofounded a public-health nonprofit group called Global Health Corps and serves as its CEO.

The younger fraternal twin, Jenna Bush Hager went to the University of Texas in Austin and got a degree in English. The author and editor-at-large of Southern Living magazine's parents did not attend her and her sisters graduation to avoid detracting attention from the ceremonies.

John F. Kennedy's children both hold degrees in law. The oldest child, Caroline graduated from Harvard and then went to study law at Columbia. The younger, John Jr. earned his degree from NYU School of Law.

Richard Nixon's eldest daughter Tricia Nixon Cox attended Boston College and earned a degree in English. Her younger sister Julie Nixon Eisenhower went to Smith College and earned a master's degree in education from The Catholic University of America.

Lynda Bird Johnson Robb went to the University of Texas in Austin. The eldest daughter of Lyndon Johnson is the last first daughter to be married in the White House. Lynda's younger sister Luci Baines Johnson went to Georgetown University's School of Nursing and health studies. Luci got married and was forced to drop out because the school did not allow married students.

The only daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Chelsea has very impressive academic credentials. She graduated from Stanford with the highest honors then went to the University College of the University of Oxford for her master's degree. Chelsea earned another graduate degree from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health before getting her doctorate degree back in Oxford.
