'Marvel’s Inhumans’ Air Date & Updates: Vin Diesel Playing Black Bolt?; Here’s Everything You Need To Know!
ByMarvel is debuting a new TV series on ABC, titled "Marvel's Inhumans," which is slated to be the first TV show to hold an IMAX premiere in September 2017. The first two episodes of the show will screen worldwide two weeks before the TV premiere on ABC. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming "Marvel's Inhumans."
Is it a spinoff of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."?
Contrary to past speculations, "Marvel's Inhumans" is not exactly a spinoff for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," which has presented characters from the "Inhumans" comic books since its second season. Instead, "Marvel's Inhumans" will "explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family."
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." visual effects supervisor Mark Kolpack also revealed through Twitter that the VFX used on the show will not be featured in the "Marvel's Inhumans" TV Series, which means the over-all look of the latter will completely be different from "S.H.I.E.L.D."
Who are the Inhumans?
The Inhumans form a race of super-powered beings. In the comic books, the story primarily focused on the adventures of the Inhuman Royal Family. The Inhumans are the result of experiments done by the Kree race on Earth's Homo sapiens. Although they successfully created a strain of humans with extraordinary abilities, the experiment was abandoned due to a prophecy that predicted that the Inhumans would lead to the fall of the Kree Supreme Intelligence.
The Inhumans are led by Black Bolt, the king of the Inhumans, and the Royal Family which consists of Medusa, Karnak, Triton, Crystal, Gorgon, Maximus Mad and Lockjaw. Some of the Inhumans became members of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.
"Marvel's Inhuman" cast
So far, little is known about the plot and the casting for the show. Vin Diesel was a favorite among fans to play the role of Black Bolt, but "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn said that his casting seems unlikely.
How long will the first season be?
Despite the seemingly grand presentation of "Marvel's Inhumans," the first season of the TV series will consist of only eight episodes, The Hollywood Report reported. The first two episodes will premiere on IMAX, after which ABC will expand them with additional content for its television broadcast.
