Fans of the "Resident Evil" movie franchise can now start counting the days as "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" finally gets a release date in Japan and in the United States.

The movie will be released on Dec. 23 in Japan and Jan. 27, 2017 in the U.S., Enstarz reported. Alice will once again battle the evil corporation Umbrella in the hopes of winning mankind's last chance against the apocalypse that defaced the Earth and turned nearly every one into horrifying zombies.

Milla Jovovich, who plays Alice in the movie, will be joined by Ali Larter, William Levy and Ruby Rose. Shawn Roberts, Eoin Macken and Lee Joon-gi are also reported to join along with Rola and Iain Geln.

The movie will pick up immediately after the events that occurred in the movie "Resident Evil: Retribution," which was shown in 2012, IGN reported. The last and final installment to the franchise will have Jovovich and the last survivors of mankind head off to where the nightmare all began - Raccoon City.

The forces of Umbrella Corporation are also gathering its meanest and mightiest to erase man's last chance of survival, while Alice will join forces with new and old allies in order to overcome perhaps the greatest battle on Earth.

Rumor has it that Alice's true personality, the reason why she is Alice and why Umbrella did what it has done will all be revealed in this movie. Director Paul W.S. Anderson said that all the questions and loose ends will be answered and tied in this movie.

The director also insisted that this would be the final movie where fans of the film and game franchise will see Alice. He also said that it will have an emotional engagement that will definitely surprise the audiences. However, everyone's not convinced that this is the last "Resident Evil" to grace the big screen.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" will be available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
