"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" remastered edition is rumored to have additional contents coming soon. The DLC rumor started when a number of players discovered a previously unknown weapon that did not exist in the original game.

Meet the XM-LAR

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" reddit posts are talking about a new weapon that recently appeared in the remastered version. However, the XM-LAR is actually the FAL in "Modern Warfare 2," according to some reddit posters. Those who want to see the controversial rifle in action can see it here.

Players claimed that the XM-LAR is actually a well-balanced weapon for matches. The new semi-automatic rifle though will require some effort on the part of the player to unlock. The addition of a killfeed means that the developer did a lot of encoding to add it to the "Modern Warfare" remastered edition.

More Weapons And Maps To Come?

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" remastered is supposed to be a pre-order item for those buying the "COD: Infinite Warfare." Surprisingly, more COD fans would rather play the updated original than the latest installment in the series which is set in space.

Game publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward are probably aware of the COD remastered version's popularity right now. Perhaps the developer meant to tease the players with an upcoming DLC by releasing the XM-LAR? There are a number of theories why such weapon made its appearance on the remastered edition.

Many "COD: Modern Warfare" fans, however, prefer to believe that an upcoming DLC is in the works. Additional contents would mean not only additional weapons but also new multiplayer maps and perhaps a new campaign mode.

So far, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward would comment on any appearance of the XM-LAR. Interestingly, the YouTube video that first featured the new weapon was taken down after Activision complained of copyright infringements. It is also possible that other weapons and items are still waiting to be discovered in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" Remastered edition.
