‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Release, Plot: Father-son Reunion Between Star Lord and Ego, Plot Details, More – Everything We Know
By"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2017. It brings back its intergalactic quartet - Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket and Groot - for another round of adventure in space. Here's the lowdown on everything we know so far about "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" plot details
According to Cinema Blend, the sequel will pick up approximately two months following the events in the first movie. The 2014 film posed a big question about Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) parentage, particularly his real father. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will show Star Lord reunited with his father, who is portrayed by Kurt Russell. He is taking on the role of Ego the Living Planet, who is literally a living planet in the comic books.
But Star Lord's reunion with his father is not the only big thing coming to "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." Speaking to Collider, director James Gunn said the sequel is not based on a shocking twist "in the same way Luke's father was Darth."
"Ego is the emotional center of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from the beginning to the end, and is not a twist," Gunn said. "And believe me - there are many, many more surprises we still have in store for you from Vol. 2." Interestingly, Pratt said the script for the second movie "brought tears to his eyes," which definitely means that the father-son get-together will be one emotional event.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast
New characters will be introduced in the superhero sequel. Aside from Russell, who's playing Peter Quill's long-lost dad, "The Night Manager" star Elizabeth Debicki is also joining the film as Ayesha. The character is said to pose some tension with Star Lord and his squad, Digital Spy reported. Chris Sullivan ("The Knick's") and Tommy Flanagan ("Sons of Anarchy") have also been cast for mystery roles.
Surprisingly, Sylvester Stallone will have a cameo appearance. Although his character wasn't revealed, it is said to be a "very, very key important role."
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" release date
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set to come out on April 25, 2017.
