The recent release of "The Sims 4 City Living" expansion pack welcomed gamers with the new expansive, urban and diverse center of San Myshuno, along with new gameplay features and interesting additional items. However, this excitement was stopped by a sudden game freezing bug that appeared after a patch update, which was not yet addressed by the game's developer.

According to GameNGuide, the new update for "The Sims 4" patch addressed several game issues, as well as added the lot traits that were previewed in earlier "City Living" teaser clips. The new city-themed world is said to introduce DLC added apartments, interesting gameplay features, new build and buy items to the game.

The patch update was also suspected to fix errors to the base game and some of the older DLC's like "Dine Out" and "Get to Work," together with an array of new traits added to "The Sims 4" along with other enhancements to prepare for the "City Living" expansion pack,

But days after its release, players noticed their games constantly freezing either during the game's loading screen or while in the middle of the game of the "City Living" expansion pack.

Although "The Sims" development team is yet to address the origin of the new patch error being experienced by most players, gaming tips posted on an article in SimsVIP, a fan-based website dedicated for Sims players, shows instructions gamers should follow in order to deal with the freezing and lagging issue in "The Sims 4" after downloading the October patch.

The first method is by playing offline. Following the article, users have reported that turning off the switch on "Origin" has tremendously helped resolve their issue. Use the "Origin" tab on the top left corner of the Origin client and select "Go Offline."

Players are also recommended to backup Sims files and then remove the tray folder. To access the Tray table, players should go to "Documents," then to "Electronic Arts," followed by "The Sims 4," then lastly, "Tray." Players should save a backup of this folder onto their desktop.

Once the files are backed up, users should remove the folder from the Sims 4 game folder.

For some, reverting to 64Bit has resolved the freezing issue. To set the 64Bit function, users should open The Sims 4 in Origin and go to "Settings," then to Game Properties" followed by "Advanced Launch Options" and select the 64bit version.

Even though the game automatically disabled mods, users should check if they are running compatible and up-to-date mods upon enabling mods in the game again since outdated mods may have caused the sudden lagging.
