"Frozen 2" is officially happening, and there are rumors that there might be major changes in terms of casting for the sequel. Is Idina Menzel not returning to voice the lead character Elsa?

Although details about "Frozen 2" are sparse, several reports suggest that Menzel might not be taking part in the highly-awaited sequel. Rumor has it that Demi Lovato is a candidate for the role, and a viable one considering she sang the pop version of the Oscar-winning soundtrack "Let It Go." Taylor Swift has also been linked as a possible replacement for the Tony Award-winning actress.

However, contrary to rumors Menzel candidly spoke about "Frozen 2" in a recent appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in September. Miley Cyrus, who took over DeGeneres for the episode, asked Menzel about her thoughts on #GiveElsaAGirlfriend, a petition that started after the character was revealed to be gay. "Honestly, honestly I don't know," Menzel said, as quoted by EW. "I'm a servant of Disney."

Menzel supports the idea of Elsa being gay, which she thinks is a "wonderful idea." "It's a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay," Menzel continued. "I can't promise anybody that's going to happen."

Based on her answers, it appears that Menzel is pretty much still part of "Frozen 2" as the voice for Elsa.

Menzel has long championed LGBT rights and has earned praise from the LGBT community through her past performances in "Rent" and "Wicked." According to The Huffington Post, Menzel first became aware of the LGBT fanbase after her bisexual performance on Maureen on "Rent." The 45-year-old actress received a Tony Award nomination for her performance.

"There are always these characters who are literally trying to come out of the closet - they're hiding something within them that they're afraid to let people see, and then finally they embrace it and change the world around them," Menzel said about playing bisexual characters.

According to actress Kristen Bell, who plays Princess Ana, the creators are putting the finishing touches on the script for "Frozen 2."
