Apple Watch News: Apple Watch Gets FaceTime-Style Video Calls; Kohl’s Starts Selling Apple Watch For Holiday Season [VIDEO]
ByThe Apple Watch may be packed with a massive of features, but it's still missing a camera. However, the team behind the fastest video messenger app on the planet, Glide, has created the CMRA band to enable video calls and photo-taking on the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch owners could have not just one, but two shooters in their smartwatches through a camera-equipped strap. CMRA band comes along with a 2 megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and FaceTime-style video calls, as well as an 8 megapixel camera facing out, so users can take photos on-the-go without having to use their iPhone, according to Mac World.
CMRA band is up for grabs for pre-orders at CMRA for $149, and the band might roll out in Spring 2017. An Apple Watch owner can get it in one of four colors: white, blue, gray and black, Recode has learned.
Glide CEO Ari Roisman stated that the camera for the Apple Watch is only valuable when it is available and ready to take a photo or video.
On the other hand, the American department store company, Kohl's, collaborated with Apple Inc. to sell the Apple Watch at 400 of Kohl's 1,100 stores starting Nov. 15. The partnership is hoping to attract more customers to Kohl's department stores over the holiday shopping period.
Kohl's chief merchandising and customer officer, Michelle Gass, stated that they are not launching it as an electronic partner, but they are positioning the product as an active and wellness gadget. Gass added that ten different kinds of Apple Watches will be made available at Kohl's, and both companies got their hopes up that the new product offering will boost sales, Forbes reported.
The move follows another attempt by the department store company to establish its brand as a retailer focused on activewear.
