‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Spoilers: Tyler Lockwood Returns To Help Damon; Episode Titles Will Be Based On ‘TVD’ Quotes [VIDEO]
By"The Vampire Diaries" has premiered its eighth and final season, and things are already heating up in Mystic Falls. The show has brought in a lot of memorable characters throughout its seven-year run, and many of them will make an appearance in the final season.
Among the well-loved recurring characters returning to Mystic Falls is werewolf hottie Tyler Lockwood, played by Michael Trevino. EW confirmed in a report that Tyler is making a comeback this season, with his first appearance on episode 3. He will come face-to-face with Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore, who is being controlled by the evil creature in the vault.
Damon, as we've seen in the Season 8 premiere, isn't at his best, but Tyler will try to talk some sense into him by reminding him about what's really important in life and his anchor to his humanity.
The catch? Tyler's not really the best person for that job. The last time these two saw each other was when Damon was beating Tyler to extract information from him. The two have never been the best of friends.
Meanwhile, the first episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finally gave viewers a first-look at Sybil, the mysterious creature that's been controlling Damon and Enzo ever since their first encounter in the vault. In an interview with TVLine, Somerhalder and co-star Paul Wesley explained the concept of Sybil and how the current season showcases "religious undertones."
"This season is really about ... the conclusion of what evil sins must these characters pay their dues for," Wesley said about the conflict that unfolds this season.
On the other hand, Somerhalder shared his thoughts on working with his on-screen brother. "We're so dialed-in with one another, we could look at each other and not have to say a word to know exactly what one another is thinking."
The first episode was aptly called "Hello, Brother," a reference to the first episode in Season 1 where Damon and Stefan first met after years of being apart. Executive producer Julie Plec previously said that the titles of the episodes in Season 8 will have something to do with some of the most memorable quotes from the show.
"The Vampire Diaries" airs every Friday on The CW.
