PlayStation VR News: Sony To Sell Hundreds Of Thousands Of Units; Players Have Reported Issues With PlayStation VR [VIDEO]
BySony already launched its new virtual-reality headset called PlayStation VR. As stated by PlayStation executive Jim Ryan, the tech company is expecting to sell hundreds of thousands of PlayStation VR units.
In an interview of Ryan with CNBC, the PlayStation executive stated that Sony is ramping up production of PlayStation VR to achieve the sales; however, another PlayStation executive, Andrew House, previously stated that there might be shortages for PlayStation VR. Yet another executive, Shuhei Yoshida, claimed that the Japanese tech giant does not know what the demand will be for PS VR, according to CNET.
However, though the pre-order of PlayStation VR sold quickly, PlayStation VR is available and in stock at GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon right now. According to research group Superdata, PS VR sales could reach 2.6 million units by the end of 2016.
The PlayStation VR headset costs $400 on its own, but also requires a PS4 console and a PlayStation camera. A $500 PlayStation VR Launch Bundle comes along with a camera, headset and two Move controllers, as well as the five-game PlayStation VR Worlds collection. All versions of PlayStation VR include a demo disc that contains trials for 18 games, which include the survival horror video game "Resident Evil 7."
On the other hand, a number of gamers have begun to report issues with the new PlayStation VR, wherein they claimed that the view within the virtual reality headset will shift to the left during play, IGN has learned.
In a Reddit thread, multiple PSVR gamers have encountered the Center of View issue, which gradually forces the players to realign their position as their field of view shifts. One user stated that after three laps of "Driveclub," the PSVR gamer has to look almost over his left shoulder to keep the center of the view.
