"Guardians of the Galaxy" is on top once again. With an on-screen fatalities of 83, 871, the movie is now being considered the deadliest film of all time.

According to The Guardian, the list includes Tolkien novels and "The Matrix," proving that just because we don't see too much bloodshed in a film, it doesn't mean that it's not deadly.

The data came from a study that was conducted by Go Compare, a financial services comparison website. They tallied all the body counts in the film from 1940's to the present.

The study revealed that there were fewer deaths in older films. Back in the 1940's, the highest on-screen deaths were only 50, and as the movie industry progresses, the number of on-screen deaths also increases.

When James Gunn heard about the news, he explained that the high number of on-screen deaths can be accounted for by the huge number of Nova Corp pilots who died protecting the planet against Dark Aster. There were at least 80,000 Nova Corp pilots who were blown up in the film.

In a statement Gunn posted on his Facebook account, he said that the scene took a lot of work and that they needed to redo the visual effects more than a dozen times to achieve the desired effect, Screenrant reported. He ended his post by saying "RIP Garthan Saal and company."
