With Apple reportedly ready to release its next iPhone in three weeks, the tech company from Cupertino, Calif. seems to be exploring a new gold shell for it, International Business Times reported.
MG Siegler of Tech Crunch wrote Sunday the iPhone 5S will be offered in a champagne gold to go along with the traditional black and white. The new color is supposedly to meant to peak the interest of markets in India and China, where the color is "very popular."
"Yes, there will be a gold iPhone," Siegler wrote. "That's the latest I'm hearing from multiple sources after several weeks of rumors and possible component leaks suggesting the same thing... And now, upon checking, sure enough, there will be gold."
Siegler's report came shortly after KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone 5S would be offered in a gold casing.
In addition to a new color offering, IB Times reported a brand new set of specs for the much-anticipated iPhone release.
Also in Kuo's report was details of the 5S model being available with 128 GB of storage, double the largest capacity currently offered by Apple. That could also eliminate the 16 GB version, as Apple typically only carries three different storage amounts.
Kuo also said the new Apple smartphone would have an A7 processor chip, an upgrade from the iPhone 5's A6 chip and 1 GB of RAM memory. According to Kuo, coding for iOS 7, the upcoming mobile operating system, made references to the A7 chip. The new chip would be about 20 percent more efficient than the current one.
The camera is also expected to be improved, Kuo reported, but not in terms of megapixels. The 5S will have the same 8-megapixel resolution, only with an added dual LED flash and an increased aperture to help it perform better in low-light.
According to IB Times, there have also been reports the camera's resolution will in fact be improved to 12 or 13 megapixels.
