The highly-anticipated MacBook Pro is slated to get a radical overhaul this year, multiple reports have said. Moreover, the laptop is rumored to sport thinner and lighter physical arrangement as compared to its predecessors. While all this may sound quite exciting, the device's best feature might be a touch-ready secondary OLED display that is said to replace the entire function key row atop the keyboard.

Rumors are rife about the MacBook Pro 2016 that it will be coming with a secondary OLED touch screen equipped with app shortcuts that enable quicker access. However, Apple has remained tight-lipped about this feature and has neither denied nor confirmed these rumors.

Rumor mills, on the other hand, have not ceased swirling speculations around the 2016 MacBook Pro, most recently indicating that the much-awaited laptop is likely to make an appearance on September 7, during the annual iPhone launching event of the Cupertino based tech firm, MasterHerald reported.

Contextual Shortcuts To The User

The secondary display will reportedly offer contextual shortcuts to the user, thus facilitating easier interaction with frequently used features that will be just one touch away. The purported OLED bar is said to offer system-wide shortcuts, as well as app-specific shortcuts, counting upon the developers to extend support to the feature in question, BGR reported.

Apple has not yet divulged the official name of the OLED display on the MacBook Pro 2016; however, insiders claim that company internally alludes to the said feature as 'Dynamic Function Row.'

MacBook Pro 2016 Rumors

Strong rumors have been doing rounds suggesting that Apple would indeed debut its latest iPhones on September 7 and there is a possibility that it could be accompanied by a slew of other devices including the Apple Watch 2, the MacBook Pro 2016, the iPad Pro 2, an iMac desktop and MacBook Air 2016.

In addition to the aforesaid event, industry watchers claim that Apple might do a couple of more launching events in 2016; one on September 7 and the other likely to be scheduled during October or November to launch all the impending six devices from the company's stable before the end of 2016.

One of the three speculated significant features of the MacBook Pro 2016, the wireless charging capability, seems to be the one that could pose a challenge as Apple has not yet launched an iPhone that boasts a wireless charging IC.

One other rumor centering on the feature of the MacBook Pro 2016 is that it shall get rid of the 3.5-mm headphone jack that Apple's laptop and notebook lines have usually come with. In fact, if rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, the removal of the 3.5-mm headphone jack in the company's latest laptop line is to be blamed for the delay in the release of MacBook Pro 2016.

The impending laptop line from Apple is likely to hit the store shelves with a price point beginning at $1,399 and is expected to go as high as $2,699 for its high-end variant that reports claim will be a 15-inch model loaded with an array of awe-inspiring features.
