Microsoft has finally gotten to the bottom of "Surface Pro 3's" battery problem. The tech company is unleashing a software update to fix the battery issue.

Microsoft made it known that the problem with the battery degradation of "Surface Pro 3" is due to the gadget's software and not because of the hardware, based on the report of Trusted Reviews.

On Microsoft's online support forums, the company's representative recently wrote that they can now firmly established that Pro 3's battery capacity question is not a hardware issue, but one that can be directed with a software update.

Microsoft's representative then went on to claim that his team is already collaborating on a software update that will fix the issue. But, the rep acknowledged that the software update for "Surface Pro 3" is still in the process of testing and once it passes quality assurance they will publish the update soon.

At the end of the Microsoft representative's post, it advised "Surface Pro 3" owners to hold on to their devices for the reason that the update is already pending.

However, in spite of the fact that the company's rep may have given users assurance that their Pro 3 will get a battery fix soon, it was not enough to give them the satisfaction. As displeased owners have expressed their annoyance for paying $450 or more for the replacement fees just to get new models, according to Engadget.

Other "Surface Pro 3" owners are concerned that their device's battery will not be used anymore by the time the company comes out with the patch. In which they will be required to go for a replacement. But, Microsoft is yet to confirm if these Pro 3 owners will receive any compensation for all they have gone through, Ubergizmo reported.

It is still not clear when Microsoft is going to release the software update.
