Lee must face another Chinese opponent in the quest for gold medal on August 20. Chen Long, dubbed as the next Lin Dan won over Denmark's Viktor Axelsen in a separate semifinal match. The mental pressure must be higher than the struggle with fatigue as this could be Lee's last resort in his quest for Olympic gold.

The Chinese left-hander will get up for another battle for bronze against Viktor Axelsen on August 20. The young Denmark athlete is in his prime state whilst this could be Lin Dan's last Olympic battle as he plans to retire. The previous match was on 2015 Yonex Denmark Open where Axelsen won over Lin.
