Samsung is expected to release it much-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 on Sept. 4, an inside source told tech website Android Geeks.

The South Korean smartphone maker began the Galaxy Note line in 2011 and has helped to coin the term "phablet" (phone and tablet). The Galaxy Note series features a screen much larger than a smartphone, but still smaller than a tablet. It is still pocket sized and is a fully functional cell phone and comes complete with a stylus.

According to the report, a Korean analyst said the new phone would be released in September, but did not give any specifics. Upon further investigation, an insider told Android Geeks the exact date and that the company would begin advertising the Sept. 4 event in August.

The reported release would be just ahead of the IFA Expo in Berlin, Germany. Both the previous Galaxy Note phones were released in similar fashion.

The latest Samsung phablet is said to feature a 5.7-inch display or a 5.99-inch display and will be available with either an LCD screen or an AMOLED screen, or both. It will also likely be available for purchase about a month after its official unveiling.

The Galaxy Note 3's release is expected to coincide with Apple's release of the iPhone 5S and could challenge the company in sales.

Like the Galaxy S4, the Note 3 will feature different options for the amount of storage and RAM. It will have two GB RAM and the option of 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage, all with SD card support. The third Galaxy Note could also feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Furthermore, Android Geeks reported that the latest operating system, 4.3 Jelly Bean, will see a July release, meaning the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 could both come preloaded with the latest Android operating system.
