Marin surely aims for the gold. The 23-year-old athlete is currently rank #1 in the world. Many have predicted that Marin would go to the final rounds with possible match against Wang Yihan.

Ratchanok Intanom from Thailand has shown impressive works in women's singles, winning three titles of world superseries in 2016 - something that's not to be taken lightly by the other players.

The recent speculations also point at India's Saina Nehwal - which is predicted to strive in the summer Olympics. Nehwal and Marin previous battle was in Indonesia Superseries Premier 2016. The match won by Marin but she was tossed from the event by Wang Yihan from China, Sportskeeda reported.

Marin is physically and mentally ready as she declared, "I think all the players are now not scared to play the Chinese," as reported by The Newpaper. Marin has been preparing herself since May for Rio Olympics. She has worked hard but so do the other contenders.

Aside from the women's single title, there are a few other badminton athletes to keep an eye on.
