iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 Rumors and Release Date: Apple Strikes 3-Year Deal With Taiwan Company(VIDEO)
ByAutumn is swiftly approaching and as it does, so does Apple's iOS 7, and perhaps an iPhone 6 (or 5s), but the rumor mill is certainly in full spin.
According to a report by the DigiTimes.com, Apple has struck a three-year agreement with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to build a new A-series of chips for future Apple devices. TSMC will reportedly begin manufacturing the chips in July.
Some rumors state the next iPhone will be released in the fall, but hit-or-miss Chinese blog stated the phone would be released early in 2014 with the A-8 processor.
Phones Review, an England-based smartphone blog, called into question the validity of the DigiTimes report, stating they have been wrong and have even contradicted themselves in the past.
The prevailing rumor is that a new iPhone will be released with iOS 7, due out in September. Phones Review noted that putting out the iPhone 5S in the fall and releasing the iPhone 6 early in 2014 would displease a great deal of Apple customers.
What the next iPhone model will be exactly remains to be seen, but some features have been confirmed, while other are all but.
9to5Mac.com reported Apple is testing out motion controls for the next iPhone. In the beta version of iOS 7, accessibility settings allow the user to assign specific functions to turning one's head left or right.
The phone uses its front-facing camera to detect movement of the head. The user can go to the home screen, summon Siri, open the notification center, open the app switcher, increase or decrease the volume or simply tap by with head movements.
The report noted that the process involved in using the feature is accurate, but still tedious. The operating system is only in beta and not yet available to the public.
Another prevailing rumor surround Apple's next smartphone is the availability of numerous different colors and sizes.
Reuters previously reported Apple's next iPhone could be available in two different sizes, two different prices and up to six different colors in order to compete with Samsung's "Galaxy" line.
Anonymous sources said one will have a 4.7-inch screen and one will have a 5.7-inch screen. The latest model on the market, iPhone 5, has a four-inch screen and the cheapest capacity, 16 gigabytes, is $199. The new iPhone will reportedly have a cheaper model for $99, something Apple has never tried with its previous iPhones.
Apple's new mobile operating system is already generating a lot of hype on the Internet. TheNextWeb.com reported that two-thirds of users approved of iOS 7's newer and flatter interface and preferred it to iOS 6's.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has also publically stated his company failed its customers with the revamped Apple Maps app and will be releasing another new and improved version that will be compatible with a number of 2014 model cars.
Apple has not confirmed or denied any rumors surrounding the next iPhone, but if the company keeps to its regular pattern, customers will see a new smartphone in the near future.
