A rumor shows up detailing Verizon as the carrier for the upcoming Google smartphone, the HTC Nexus 2016.

Verizon will be the carrier for HTC Nexus 2016, HTC Marlin and Sailfish

Evan Blass, the leaker who has always been accurate so far, tweeted another detail on Nexus 2016 handsets. He stated that Verizon is going to carry the handsets.

For the record, this means a come-back for Verizon as Google's phone carrier. The tech giant has been in relationships with various carriers and it's unknown whether Verizon will exclusively sell Nexus Phone or not, GSM Arena wrote.

However, many Nexus fans are worried if Verizon would make the same 'mistake' just like in 2014 where the carrier placed too many not-so-useful software. They also hope to see HTC Nexus 2016 unlocked version, sold at Google's online store, like the Nexus 5X and 6P phones.

So far, there's a huge concern on the speculation whether Verizon becomes exclusive carrier like the previous Galaxy Nexus. Phandroid noted that users were annoyed since Verizon, not Google, controlled the updates.
