Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Shows Off The Cutting-Edge Iris Scanner And The Updated TouchWiz Grace UX In A New Video; Specs, Features And Release Date Revealed?
ByAlthough the Samsung Galaxy Note7 is just days away from its speculated August 2 release date, rumor mills have not ceased churning speculations surrounding the much-awaited smartphone, hinting an array of awe-inspiring features it is expected to boast.
One of the key features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be its cutting-edge iris scanner. A recently-surfaced video confirms the heavily rumored feature is real based. In the video, the iris scanner is selected as a method of unlocking the phone.
The video starts out showing the lock screen of the smartphone and giving a glimpse of its pattern unlock feature, aside from to the aforementioned iris scanner.
In addition, a couple of screenshots showing how the feature works have leaked too.
Samsung recommends the iris scanner shouldn't be used on babies and those wearing glasses or contact lenses. The company advices to maintain a distance of 25-35cm for optimum performance of the iris scanner, GSM Arena reported.
Aside from showing how fast the iris scanner unlocks, the video also shows the updated TouchWiz "Grace UX," and also confirms its 4 GB of RAM and not 6 GB as speculated.
If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, the South Korean tech firm is planning to have a whopping five million Galaxy Note 7 units manufactured and ready to ship on August 2, the same day it releases the smartphone at a press conference.
FCC has already provided its approval for the company's next-gen Note, which clearly hint an imminent release date for the Galaxy Note 7.
As far as the new Grace UX TouchWiz UI is concerned, a slew of reports from several sources indicate it has been revamped for an upgraded S Pen stylus, which reportedly is another major feature in Samsung's next-gen phablet. If rumors proved to be true, the stylus may even work underwater, TechTimes reported.
In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD Super AMOLED curved edge display coupled with either a Snapdragon or Exynos processor (based on region) and 4 GB of RAM. The phablet packs a mammoth 64 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD expansion slot.
It will boast a 12 MP rear camera with OIS, phase detection autofocus in addition to other slew of tricks, and a 5 MP front shooter for selfie addicts.
In other news, official renders of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 are now out showing the phone from various angles in three of the color variants it will offer. It was earlier reported that the device will be available in Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral color variants; the new gold option has made its appearance for the first time.
