Despite its terrible launch citing a slew of server issues, "Pokemon Go" is taking over the world as everyone is rushing outdoors and even the Pentagon and the White House are not missing out on the action.
While the already-hit AR (augmented reality) mobile game has not officially hit the shelves world over, avid fans have not ceased downloading the game anyway. Taking into consideration that the game has changed significantly as compared to older games, playing "Pokemon Go" could be quite a task for new and old players alike.
Check out a few "Pokemon Go" tips and tricks that can help in play-through.
How To Level Up
Players gain levels by catching Pokemon, battling at Gyms and by delving into PokeStops. With each of the aforementioned actions, players gain a certain level of "Pokemon Go" experience and as they gain more experience, they level up. Players simply need to be walking around in order to do all this. Although there is a possibility that a Pokemon or two might pay players a visit at their house or office, they will ideally need to be on the move to find them.
Starting level 5, players can battle at the Gyms, and as they continue to tot up more experience, players will have access to Gyms as well as higher-quality PokeBalls, in addition to items that can beef up their Pokemon. Players who have a higher trainer level are more likely to take over Gyms that may boast multiple trainers. For this reason, players should swipe ever PokeStop because it's free experience and try to grab as many Pokemons as possible early on in order to gain levels quickly, NDTV Gadgets reported.
Unconventional Combat
Contrary to traditional "Pokemon" games where players opt for four types of move to employ against a foe, "Pokemon Go" has players laying siege to their opponents by tapping them, and swipping to avoid its moves. Players can activate special attacks by holding the screen. Battles only crop up when players are in a Gym, which imply they can't battle it out against friends, well, not just yet.
Gyms can go up to level 6 provided players strengthen them well enough. One more reason why Gyms are actually worth the trouble is that players who have Pokemon in a gym will earn in-game currency to spend, based on how many gyms a player has Pokemon in. This can be found under the "Store" tab in the top right, Droid-Life reported.
Just Hit Level 5 Soon
Players can start to battle at Gyms and get an opportunity to join a team, Red, Blue, or Yellow as soon as they hit level 5 in "Pokemon Go." Immediately after joining a team, players can assign a "Pokemon" they caught either to an open Gym or to a Gym where other team members have already placed their "Pokemon." Each player is allowed only one Pokemon in a single Gym.
How Gyms Work
Its crucial to check out the Prestige of a Gym run by another team before attacking it. The higher the Prestige is, the more complicated it would be to take over. In order to take over the Gym's control from the defending team, players need to reduce the Gym's Prestige to zero.
To keep Gym's Prestige up, players should train their Pokemon there. This can be achieved by squaring off against Pokemon from the same team you're on. By beating them all, players can boost their Prestige level and make it tough for other team to strike. This is because with each Prestige level, players are allowed to add one more Pokemon Trainer to the gym, making it next to impossible to defeat.
Taking over a gym is no-doubt useful as it enables players to earn PokeCoins ("Pokemon Go" currency) that allow them to buy items. These can be redeemed every 20 hours based on the gyms they're a part of. PokeCoins are also up for grabs in the game's store.
Why PokeStops Are Important
PokeStops are significant landmarks in players' area and are highlighted by blue markers on them. For preview image of what type of location it is, players can simply click on the marker. Players can swipe it, to check the items. These encompass awe-inspiring items such as Pokeballs or a Pokemon Egg, which gives players new Pokemon for their collection once they hatch. In order to hatch a Pokemon Egg, players need to place them in an Incubator (which they receive when they start the game and walk a specified distance). While some eggs need a lot of walking, quite a few eggs hatch just after a couple of kilometres.
How Does Evolution Happen
Contrary to other game in the "Pokemon Go" series, this Pokemon does not evolve right after battles.
To evolve their Pikachu into a Raichu, or Charmander into a Charizard, players will need to catch more of the same kind of Pokemon. While doing so, a player bags Candy and Stardust. Once a player has obtained enough Candy, he/she can use them to evolve Pokemons. This boosts attack power and adds more health for their Pokemon.
