Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment's computer animated comedy film - "The Secret Life Of Pets," took a three-day estimate of between $90 million-$100 million this weekend at the U.S. box office.

"The Secret Life Of Pets" film would make it the second-best opening for an animated movie in July following 2015's Minions, which debuted a healthy $115M, based on the report of Deadline.

While 20th Century Fox's "Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates," with cast Zac Efron, American actress Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza and comedian Adam Devine, is looking to file a $5 million - $6 million Friday and $13 million - $14 million opening weekend.

As the "The Secret Life Of Pets" film aimed to dethrone Disney-Pixar's blockbuster comedy adventure film "Finding Dory," the production of "The Secret Life Of Pets" expected to hit at least $70 million this weekend.

Universal Studios fired up "Pets" on Friday at 4,329 North American movie houses. The movie follows animals at home after their owners leave for work or school each day, according to Variety.

But, the difference between "The Secret Life Of Pets" and "Dory," is that Dory movie skews more adult. While Pets film being more kid-heavy, this could push its projections down to the mid $80 million to low $90 million.

The Box Office team made a written statement that Universal Pictures has done very well with July animated releases over the past few years, with Steve Carell's "Despicable Me" and "Minions" being blockbusters.

In which the "Secret Life of Pets" is tapping into much of the same demographic by making the effective use of the cuteness factor of its stars similar to what it did for "Minions," according to Market Watch.

To name a few, the motion picture "Pets" features the voice talents of Ellie Kemper, Jenny Slate, Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and the BET Award Best Actor in 20102 - Kevin Hart.
