Looks like a bad news for those waiting with bated breath for the MacBook Air 2016 as rumors are running rampant that the Cupertino-based tech firm has decided to call off the laptop line.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, Apple is completely replacing the MacBook Air with a new laptop series just dubbed, MacBook.

Speculations hint that Apple wants users to focus on the new iPad Pro more and think of it as a replacement to the MacBook Air 2016.

Those looking at a PC, why would they opt for a PC anymore, Apple CEO Tim Cook said to The Telegraph last year confirming that the iPad Pro is indeed a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for that matter for several people.

Mr. Cook confidently noted that once people start using it, they will no longer need to use anything besides their phones.

Rumor mills however have continued to swirl speculations hinting that the MacBook Air 2016 could make an appearance as an entry-level laptop from Apple. But the rumored specs of the laptop did not support the claim.

While these are mere speculations and Apple has not yet confirmed or denied them, there's still hope for avid MacBook fans as few reports doing rounds online suggest that the MacBook Air 2016 is still part o the products Apple is planning to launch later this fall.

Several online tech publications have reported that the upcoming MacBook Air iteration will debut before the MacBook Pro 2016. But that's not all, a slew of rumored specifications of the MacBook Pro 2016 have surfaced online, ChristianTimes reported.

MacBook Pro 2016 - Specs

The purported device will come in 5K display packed with AMD Radeon RX 400 series graphic cards for the laptop.

In addition, the MacBook Air 2016 will reportedly boast a Lightning port that will replace the 3.5mm headphone jack. This will also enable Apple to further slim down the upcoming laptop's build.

If rumors proved to be true, an OLED touch display bar will oust the classic physical function keys on the highly-anticipated MacBook Air 2016.

Not too long ago, Apple integrated Apple Pay transactions on Macs; however users still need to use their iPhone's Touch ID feature. Besides, if recently-surfaced rumors are anything to go by, ardent MacBook fans can anticipate the new MacOS Sierra to have some enhancements on Apple Pay integration.

MacBook Pro 2016 - Price

That said, those who intend to buy the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 when it hits the shelves need have really deep pockets as getting their hands on the MacBook Air might burn a hole in their pockets if rumors are anything to go by.

The MacBook Pro 2016 will be priced around $1399 to $2699, based on the model, depending on the prices of the models currently available in the market.

As far as MacBook Air is concerned, there aren't many details that have surfaced. However, speculations hint that the upcoming laptop from Apple could boast a 5K display with a 5120 x 2880 pixels resolution.

Until confirmed by Apple, MacBook fans are recommended to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
