MediaTek Pump Express promises smartphones to have quick charging. It claims that it only takes 20 minutes to charge from 0 to 70. The company does not reveal the battery capacity of the tested gadget.

The pioneer of fables semiconductor claims the charging speed of Pump Express 3.0 is twice as fast as the currently marketed products. And it is also five times faster than any conventional charging.

Pump Express 3.0 uses USB Type C power delivery standard

This means that it allows direct charging without passing charging circuitry in a phone. It is also benefit for the device as it prevents overheat when charged. The new Pump Express cuts power dissipation by half compared to its previous version. MediaTek has equipped it with 20 mechanisms for safety protection so it will not be harmful for the phone battery and the device itself. The systems enable temperature control to prevent overheating and voltage adjustment for optimal charging process, GSMArena reported.

MediaTek does not provide further information. Thus, it is unclear if the 20-minute fast charging time is for 3500 mAh battery cell or the 2000 mAh. The test could be done on any battery capacity, Android Police reported.

The fastest charging solution yet

MediaTek released a video of Pump Express stating that it is the 'fastest charging solution yet'. It compares three smartphones, one of which is charged with Pump Express. The visual shows 20 minutes long to reach 70 percent battery power using Pump Express. The rest two smartphones take 40 minutes and 100 minutes to achieve the same level of battery power.

The company seems to understand that life can be a drag when waiting for the phone to be fully charged. Pump Express 3.0 is expected to debut in Helio series at the end of year or early 2017 along with other chipsets. It will likely to ditch out conventional solutions.
