"WWE 2K" fans rejoice! The next installment of the "WWE 2K" franchise is slated to debut in October this year, 2K Games announced. However, there is no assurance from the publishers that the title will launch on all platforms just like its predecessor.

This exciting piece of news originally came out from Take-Two's financial reports posted on WWE 2K's official Facebook page. Other games scheduled to release this year include "Sid Meier's Civilization VI," which made its debut some time back with an announcement trailer and the fan-favorite Basketball sim video game, "NBA 2K17."

In 2016, the "WWE 2K16" game launched on October 27, Tuesday, the day when games are ideally released in the U.S. Considering 2K follows the same launch trend, "WWE 2K17" will most probably launch on October 25, Attack of the Fanboy reported.

However, there is no confirmation yet from 2K Games regarding a definite release date.

Interestingly on the press release, the platform column says "TBA" (to be announced), and this was enough to get the rumor mills swirling. Rumors indicate "WWE 2K17" could skip launch on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. If this happens, it will be contrary to last year's "WWE 2K16" launch for all platforms including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC.

Aside from breaking last year's release pattern, this could also hint bad news for last gen users as they'd no longer be able to experience some wrestling action when the next installment is launched in October, unless of course they buy the current gen systems.

"WWE 2K17" will not be the first game to skip PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, just recently "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" opted to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC online, MovieNewsGuide reported.

Due to all of the new additions that have joined 2K Games recently, "WWE 2K17" could feature the most impressive roster in franchise history. The game will reportedly add the most-requested AJ Styles to the roster in addition to several other NXT wrestlers.
