With the advent of technology, books, novels and newspapers are slowly becoming obsolete as online versions of all these hard copies are now available.

However, events such as book sales are helpful to individuals, who cannot afford to purchase state-of-art technologies.

Summit College Club organises book drives/sales to provide scholarships and fellowships to local high school senior girls and to women pursuing graduate studies with the money raised by their annual sales.

Summit College Club book drive at Westy Self storage will be available till April 2.

Interested individuals can donate books, both paper and hard cover and DVD's on topics such as fiction, mystery, science fiction, history, biography, cooking, gardening and children's books.

All these items must be in a good condition and packed in liftable, stackable containers.

These donated items will be sold at the 2013 annual book sale, which will be held from April 16 to April 21 at The American Legion Hall.

Tim Mincin, district director of Westy Self Storage, Chatham location, told New Jersey that they understand the importance of education and feel satisfied to be a part of such a deserving cause.

The Summit College Club was founded in 1920 and got affiliated to the American Association of University Women in 1936.

The club has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to local college girls and graduate women through the AAUW Educational Foundation to encourage women to pursue careers in the fields of math, science, and technology.

Apart from organising book sales, the club sponsors women in art and public policy programs of community interest.
