The smoke surrounding the rumors of Braxton Miller's interest in transferring from Ohio State seems undeniable, but his coach, Urban Meyer, seems to think there is no fire.

Appearing on "The Dan Patrick Show," Meyer said he has heard nothing to suggest his most experienced quarterback is mulling a transfer. However, Meyer said he has not asked Miller himself, but said a strength coach asked the QB outright.

"I did not ask him - one of our strength coaches did - and he said, 'I don't know where that's coming from,'" Meyer told Dan Patrick. "So I would say Braxton is staying is all the indications that I'm getting. I don't go by hearsay, I just talk to the people involved, and he seems to be extremely happy and excited for 2015 as a Buckeye."

Meyer is facing a massive decision in who to choose as his primary QB. On one hand is Miller, a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, then J.T. Barrett, who led the Buckeyes to a one-loss season in Miller's stead, and lastly, Cardale Jones, who delivered wins in the Big Ten and National Championship games.

According to AL.com, the rumors of Miller transferring to Alabama to play for Nick Saban started when the QB was in the state rehabbing his shoulder and visiting with a friend who plays for the Tide. The Buckeyes' QB has also been tied to considering LSU and Florida State.

Unlike Jones and Barrett, who have more than one season of NCAA eligibility, Miller has one season left and can transfer without penalty under the NCAA's rules pertaining to graduate students.

"They've all done something to take Ohio State to the level we're at," Meyer said. "Braxton was kind of the focal point of our offense because we just didn't have the skill set around him the 12-0 year and the 12-2 year, and he was phenomenal - Big Ten Player of the Year. J.T. had the luxury of playing with some great players and then so did Cardale.

"We have a good group around them coming back, which is key - especially four out of five offensive linemen coming back, too."
