According to the Sloan Consortium's 2011 Survey of Online Learning, nearly one-third of college students are taking at least one online course, and 65% of higher education institutions now say that online learning is a critical part of their long-term strategy.

The instructor named BestCollegesOnline.com's 2012 Online College Professor of the Year will be presented with a $1,000 "bonus" for exemplifying the forward-thinking academic strategies that help their online students succeed.
Now is the time to nominate yourself, your colleague, or your professor for the BestCollegesOnline.com 2012 Online College Professor of the Year.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Online college professors and instructors who teach full or part time for online and traditional institutions (public, private, or for-profit). Nominees must have at least 12 months of teaching experience and have taught an online or hybrid/blended course during 2011. BestCollegesOnline.com defines hybrid/blended courses as those that replace at least 30% of in-class sessions with online activity.
College professors who are nominated will be contacted by BestCollegesOnline.com to verify eligibility.
Nominations may be submitted by fellow online educators, online students, college and university administrators, or the online professor themselves.
How the BestCollegesOnline.com Online College Professor of the Year Works
Nominations will be collected at BestCollegesOnline.com 2012 Online College Professor of Year for two weeks beginning March 21, 2012, and ending on April 3, 2012 at 11:59pm CDT. The individuals who receive the most nominations for the top 10 spots, as well as those tied for the top 10 spots, will receive a questionnaire, which will allow participants to share their expertise and why they should be BestCollegesOnline.com 2012 Online College Professor of the Year. The final top 10 nominees will be determined by the number of nominations and their answers to the questionnaire.
Once the top 10 nominees have been determined, readers of BestCollegesOnline.com will be able to cast a vote to decide who should be the Online College Professor of the Year and win $1,000. Voting commences on April 12, 2012, and concludes on April 25, 2012 at 11:59pm CDT.
The BestCollegesOnline.com 2012 Online College Professor of the Year will be announced on May 1, 2012.
