The Florida State Seminoles (1) are holding their place atop college football, but AP poll voters appear to be losing confidence in them.

In week six of the Associated Press college football poll, Florida State has seen its number of first place votes decrease every week since the preseason rankings. Now, the defending National Champions have 27 first-place votes where there were once 57.

N.C. State led the Seminoles at halftime, prompting a second-half comeback led by quarterback Jameis Winston and running back Karlos Williams. Florida State has not looked like the dominant team they were last season and Winston's suspension for the Clemson game nearly spelled a loss for them.

Oregon (2), Alabama (3) and Oklahoma (4) were all inactive Saturday, but stayed where they were and received some of Florida States' lost first-place votes. Rounding out an unchanged top seven, Auburn (5), Texas A&M (6) and Baylor (7) all recorded wins.

The farthest drops this week were South Carolina and Arizona State, who fell off the rankings from the 13th and 15th places, respectively. South Carolina, a team ranked ninth in the preseason poll, lost 21-20 to unranked Missouri at home. Also playing at home, Arizona State was blown out 62-27 against UCLA (8).

After those teams, the farthest any team dropped in this week's poll was one place. Notre Dame (9), Michigan State (10), Ole Miss (11) and Georgia (13) all did so despite winning.

Replacing South Carolina and Arizona State was Missouri (24) and TCU (25). The latter blew out the hapless SMU Mustangs 56-0, but TCU is now scheduled to play Oklahoma, Baylor and Oklahoma State (21) in consecutive weeks.

Florida State does not have a particularly tough schedule ahead, but they have shown weakness in the past two weeks and play Notre Dame at home Saturday, Oct. 18.
