After the South Carolina Gamecocks (14) bested the Georgia Bulldogs (13) in their much-hyped SEC showdown, the two teams have met in the middle of the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings.

The top five teams went unchanged with Florida State (1) and Auburn (5) inactive while Oregon (2), Alabama (3) and Oklahoma (4) all recorded wins. Texas A&M (6), Baylor (7), LSU (8), Notre Dame (9) and Ole Miss (10) rounded out the top 10, each moving up ahead of the week four games.

Previously ranked 24th and in danger of falling off the board with a loss, South Carolina upset a Georgia team ranked sixth at the time by a score of 38-35. The Gamecocks rose 10 places while the Bulldogs fell seven.

While South Carolina made the biggest leap, the USC Trojans (17) took the biggest fall, dropping eight spots. They saw their momentum crushed after losing 37-31 in an upset on the road against Boston College. The AP ranked USC 15th in the preseason and from there the Trojans rose to ninth last week.

The UCLA Bruins (12) remained in place after pulling off a 20-17 win against Texas. Coming into the season ranked seventh, UCLA has gone undefeated, yet still dropped due to less-than-convincing wins. The Bruins will get their chance to take a step forward when they play their first Pac-12 contest in two weeks against Arizona State (15).

Ohio State (23) fell one spot despite drubbing Kent State 66-0 in a game where J.T. Barrett set a school record with six touchdown throws. The Buckeyes are set to start their Big Ten schedule next week against Cincinnati and then will eventually play Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan.

Dropped from the rankings were Virginia Tech and Louisville, who each lost to unranked foes, making way for Nebraska (24) and Oklahoma State (25).
