The Texas A&M Aggies (9) did more than reassure their fan base that they would be okay without Johnny Manziel, they vaulted 12 places in week one of the AP Top 25 to make the top-ten.

The Associated Press released the first of their regular season weekly Top 25 Poll, ESPN reported, arguably the most revered college football ranking list. Texas A&M was facing uncertainty with Kenny Hill taking over the offense, but they quickly put it to rest by toasting South Carolina 52-28 on the road.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (21) came into the season ranked where the Aggies are now and dropped 12 places after the loss. The North Carolina Tar Heels tied the Gamecocks' 196 points and moved up two places.

The only team to make the top 25 after not being named in the preseason poll was the Louisville Cardinals (25), who beat their ACC foes the Miami Hurricanes 31-13.

With the Florida State Seminoles (1) holding the top spot, the rest of the top four teams went unchanged, with Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma following. The BCS National Championship runners-up, the Auburn Tigers (5) moved into the top five and the Georgia Bulldogs (6) moved up to take their SEC foe's spot.

The UCLA Bruins (11) played a close game against Virginia, winning 28-20, but the voters were apparently not convinced and dropped them four places.

After beating UCF, a team just outside the preseason poll, in Dublin, Ireland, Penn State found itself tied with Florida with 49 votes, while the Knights received no votes. While Florida State maintained its number-one ranking, they lost first place votes to the likes of Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas A&M and even LSU (12).
